Samsung New Patent Reveals 360-Degree Foldable Device

Current foldable smartphones are mostly inward-folding devices, with the main screen protected by an outer shell and a display on the outside to be used like a normal mobile phone.

Only a few companies have external folding devices, and the phone itself plays a major role in this, with the display pointing to the back of the device. While these are future-proof, these types of devices are not as durable as they should be.

Samsung already has a portable phone, a foldable phone that can be folded inwards. Samsung has filed a patent for a new technology that could be a 360-degree foldable phone that can be folded inwards and outwards.

this design details, it is expected that the foldable phone will have vertical cameras on the back.

In this, Samsung is going to use its own ultrathin glass flexible, which will have flexible polymer substrates and a flexible layer. This will move the foldable mobile towards the next dimension. Now, in the future, there will be a total of three types of foldable phones: a foldable phone, a tri-fold, and a 360-degree foldable phone.

Samsung demoed a foldable version with plug-in and plug-out in 2023, but they didn’t bring it to market, but it’s now expected to be upgraded and brought to market in late 2025 or early 2026.
